Diane Zahler is the author of The Thirteenth Princess, A True Princess, and Princess of the Wild Swans. Sure, Aurora's a little prissy at the beginning, and Luna can be a bit of a brat, but it all evens out by the end. Can she really protect her daughters from harm and danger? The focus remains on helping Aurora and Luna towards the next adventure more than exploring the why and how of whatever happened most recently. Oh, Mama would never forgive me for letting this happen! What they don't know is that there is a reason behind them being carefully taken care of and hidden away.

Also, I appreciated the fact that once they found the fairy it wasn't just a two second curse removal, effort had to be ma Luna and Aurora were Sleeping Beauty's daughters, and one of them, due to spiteful fairy Manon, had inherited her curse. Luna won't just let her fall asleep and activate the curse, instead the sisters set off on a quest to find the fairy that changed their mother's curse. Aurora has been cursed with the same curse as her own mother and so when she pricks her finger on a pen one day, it takes hold. Lucky me — it was an incredible way to send my book out into the world! She balances out a lot of darkness with a few good, noble characters scattered here and there.
What a beautiful and adventurous fairy tale this is. After all, I read it in one sitting. I loved the author's combination of different mythological stories ranging from Greek mythology to classic fairy tales. The focus is on Sleeping Beauty's two daughters, Aurora and Luna, and Aurora has been inflicted with the same curse as her mother. And then there was Aurora and Luna's tutor, an interesting enough character that played a significant role in the beginning only to fade out of the picture after that. Soon, in spite of all precautions, Aurora is struggling not to slip into an enchanted sleep. This is really a beautiful story and one I would recommend for all ages.
