Those 2 screws may need adjusting. In the videos I show how to change the fuel lines, primer bulb, clean the spark arrester, and rebuild the carburetor. Seems you can't buy a replacement new one any more. Mine would start and idle idle screw set right but I would seat the mixture screw and just crack it off the seat. It is fully printable, print 1 page, 1 chapter or print the entire manual and put it in a 3-ring binder. Turn it in, to increase idle speed it moves the throttle plate.
Are you able to tell me how to set the mixture? Are you able to tell me how to set the mixture?. Jul 15, 2013 hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. I've tried by turning the screw right in, then backing off one and a quarter turns, then one and a half, then one and three quarter, all with the same result. I'd had it serviced weeks before and the mixture screw had been set 2 turns out from seated then sealed with silastik. I need advice on tuning the carb. It's been a great unit, and I feel it still will be if I can get the mixtures right.
Check these things and post back. Once you download your manual it is yours forever. Then clean the carburetor with carb cleaner- take the carb off by removing the air filter first then undo the two nuts holding on the carb and take off accelerator cable remembering which hole it came from. If needed use a dabble of grease on seals Jun 13, 2011. Any help on tuning would be great. Once you found the throttle cable at the top, find a optimum idling value and then tighten the cord at that point. The other 2 screws are the Low mixture screw and the High mixture screw.
Have a look for it, won't be hard to find anyway. Here's some videos on how I did it. Posted on Jun 16, 2009 If you're having issues with your Homelite trimmer running or starting, you may need a good tune up. You probably need to tighten it up. This should set it back to standard. You will find it on the left hand side of the engine that is mounted it the top of the trimmer, thats where it normally is, but with the japanese you wouldn't know!! The metering lever in your carb is not adjusted flush with the carb body flange and is holding the gas needle open constantly. Check and clean carb jet it maybe plugged with debree.
Note; Do not use strong cleaners on rubber seals O rings and gaskets They dry up and crack. Unlike other manuals on the internet my manuals don't need a password to view or print and you can back them up any way you see fit to make sure it's aways there when you need it. Also check the finger throttle. The L and H mixture screws are open way too much allowing the carb to use excessive fuel, even on startup. If this doesn't help then it could be a carb diaphram or sticking needle. I got all my parts from Home Depot except the carb rebuild kit I got from Amazon. Sep 09, 2011 replace the fuel lines and check that the filter in the fuel tank its on the end of the intake fuel hose is clean.
Jun 20, 2011 Hi There, Check the primer bulb for tare or pin holes. I've tried by turning the screw right in, then backing off one and a quarter turns, then one and a half, then one and three quarter, all with the same result. Also check for spark which you didn't say. If there is an air leak somewhere in the old lines it will cause the trimmer not to get enough gas. .
