But the whole screen will flicker still. I get sound via headphones on the receiver so I know it is getting that far. I spent another hour or so last night trying to get it working. I thought it was fixed but then it started again. Originally Posted by jonathanq I keep reading such good things about Denon - perhaps I just got a defective unit. I guess I just got unlucky? I've double checked all of my input asssigns. I am totally fine with a fairly complicated process to tweak the output. Or I was expecting something a little more user friendly that I don't need to hire an installer to set up for me. I tried that a few times over the last few days. I got no video on screen. I just went back to component cable and a coaxial digital audio cable.
That generally solves most problems, especially yours which is most likely software related rather than cable related. Any suggestions would be appreciated - I am pulling my hair out on this! In retrospect I probably should have tried to transfer audio as well over them my lcd has a optical output. I can't figure out what the problem is. Sometimes it is fine, other times it flashes. At first it seemed ok - however all of a sudden the screen started flashing the image and then a screen of snow like if you unplugged your cable vision cable.
Now that they are going through the Amplifier it doesn't work. My new cables will be here today, I'll try them before I give up completely. And when in menu it does not even try to show an image in behind - so it can't even show a stable picture while on the menu. If I can't even pull it out of the box, hook it up and get video playing properly after 4 hours of playing with it - something is wrong. Finally, after spending the weekend trying to assimilate the manual, I can see why people say it's terrible. Your model may return multiple results, some of which may contain only the parts list. At first it seemed ok - however all of a sudden the screen started flashing the image and then a screen of snow like if you unplugged your cable vision cable.
Which is strange - I read such high praise for them on this forum and others. I'm a software developer after all! If I can't even pull it out of the box, hook it up and get video playing properly after 4 hours of playing with it - something is wrong. I am going to keep an eye on it and see if tomorrow it is still doing it or not. Although I am still not impressed with the unit as a whole. I just went back to component cable and a coaxial digital audio cable.
I'm a software developer after all! Please look below for more instruction on free download. At least that way you could have saved the expense of buying a new cable. Sorry - yes my terms are mixed up. I am looking forward to the day. With this in mind, please make your selection carefully before purchase. You've spent all this time trying to get it to work, yet you didn't mention if you did a Master Reset as batpig suggested a few posts ago? So I know it's not the cables.
Why no component output from the 889? Originally Posted by jdsmoothie That's what I gathered from your earlier post. This was my first Denon purchase and I am tempted to take it back to the store. To be honest I am not impressed with this unit, it is really hard to configure and I am not a complete idiot with technology.
